Myspace : Spice up your bandSeptember 21st, 2006
There are several ways by which you could popularize your band. Your Myspace spot maybe loaded with friends and fans with pictures from your recent shows. You may be receiving comments about everything from the outfit you wore in your latest concert to the person you broke up a relationship with. However this form of advertisement for your band is very limiting.
Having your own website increases the credibility of your band. You are a professional group of musicians where each member has an email address, which includes the bands name. Including a link to your website in every email you send out will be helpful. List it at the end of flyers, put it on business cards and attach it to the demo CD that you can send out to record companies.
The more information you can send out about your band is beneficial. Give the bios of your band members and the means of contacting you. List lyrics to your songs and tour schedules. This way the viewers can get information about your site and post comments, which can be printed. You can get noticed more by adopting these techniques, which is preferable to just having a little spot on Myspace.
When you have your own website you can sell your new album, t-shirts in variety of styles, hats, posters, patches and pins. You can have a pseudo-demo tape available for your fans, club owners, recording executives and potential agents. They can listen to samples of your songs. Get a variety of forums organized for your fans, which allow your fans to meet each other, ask you questions, and discuss your music. Having your own website offers you endless possibilities to communicate with your fans.
Through your website you can also communicate with your band members. You could pass notes to and fro the band members by using the secure pages so that the public wont have any access to it.You could upload clips of the bass line you are working on and have the band practice it via the website even if you are not available or tied up in some work.
Get your band noticed and get people talking about your band and listening to your music by uploading tracks from your shows. Adopt a new millennium style by creating a blog and pick out a special fan at every show. You could make up some rumors, which would interest your fans. Start an online war with other competitive bands. Get people to come to your shows by developing your cult status.
Spice up your band and make a success of your website by increasing its credibility. |
